Snatching Defeat From the Jaws of Victory

"A week ago, as the UK voted to exit the EU, Johnson was on top of the world as the leader of the Leave campaign" until Nigel Farage quit "properly" blasted the European Parliament for "never having done a proper job" in their lives.

All is lost if the leadership role falls to one of lesser deportment!

Their Finest Hour

Today the Axis union of Germany and Italy was reunited with France in tow as in June of 1940. The fascist three demanded submission to a "European super-state" which would control virtually every aspect of life.

Three days ago, the Brexit referendum narrowly allowed the United Kingdom to escape this colossal EU disaster in a way reminiscent of the "Dunkirk Spirit" when an armada of the British and their small fishing vessels rescued the majority of 338,226 besieged soldiers when all was about to be lost and in all probability likely saved the world from the Third Reich, i.e., a fascist German and Italian millennium.

What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over. I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, "This was their finest hour."

Standing Down

Just a few hours ago, British Prime Minister David Cameron all so conveniently announced he was "standing down."

But will "Justice," also "stand down"?

Is it not time for tribunals to be convened to address matters of "High Treason"?

Independence Day

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for almost 50 years has been in the process of research and development of cybernetic replacements for human warriors. Now, after untold billions, it is apparent that they were barking up the wrong tree.

CRISPR, which was developed by researchers at Berkeley, Harvard, MIT, and elsewhere, has transforming genetic engineering. The CRISPR/Cas9 system is so simple that even a high school student in his parent's basement has the capability to alter the human genome. This moment, human-animal variants (chimeras) are being created around the world by injecting human stem cells into animal embryos, allegedly for the purpose of organ replacement. The world is in denial, that there is a race to developed the first variant with a "human brain."
NIH ethicist David Resnik commented in November. “The specter of an intelligent mouse stuck in a laboratory somewhere screaming ‘I want to get out’ would be very troubling to people.”

However, as always the case with science, if it can be done it will be done!
