Conspiracy

ICANN headquarters, Playa Vista, Los Angeles1

Some years ago conservative journalist and author Gary Allen “dared,” in a book of the same name, to declare: “None Dare Call It Conspiracy.” Although few have the courage to affirm his thesis, conspiracy reigns among us, it always has and always will. In the garden two conspired to partake of the forbidden tree alleged to make them “gods,” and we their children, deceived by that selfsame "master conspirator" are co-conspirators.

And as history converges upon the midnight hour is there any wonder that “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the princes plot together, against Jehovah and against his anointed: Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us!” (Psalm 2:2-3).

Today, Secretary of State John Kerry in response to the announced termination of U.S. governance of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), essentially ceded control of the U.S. developed infobahn, to the international community. Oblivious to national sovereignty, he preached the merits of “international law” and its applicability and preference in cyberspace.

Kerry’s use of the phrase “international law” alludes to default U.N. oversight of the Internet. However, considering the U.N.’s deplorable history of diplomatic resolution of even of minor conflicts, how could it mitigate the foreboding free-for-all of pitting the cyber-dependent Free World against the couldn’t-care-less slave lords of China, Russia, North Korea, and of course let’s not forget the lords of Islam.

Kerry’s plan hasn't a snowball's chance in the not-so-proverbial abyss of reaching a multilateral consensus, “unless” perhaps time is nearing the midnight hour when the “master of the abyss" “causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bondmen” to register a domain name and number such “that no one should be able to buy or sell save he that had” appropriate biometric identification (cf. Revelation 13:16-17).

Technology and a compliant world have given the President and his associates unparalleled opportunity to indulge every conspiratorial fantasy, but this time they may have overstepped the “master conspirator”!
